Rodica Niculescu, Learning Design and Head of Research

Dr. Niculescu has had a distinguished career as Dean of the Faculty of Psychology and the Science of Education at University Transilvania of Brosov, Romania. She has written eleven books and fifty journal articles on the science of education and curriculum and was a contributing author for an additional ten books on education.

Rodica will lead research initiatives for Brigus Group. Under her leadership, Brigus Group has undertaken primary research on the experience of immigrants in Toronto. The results of this research will be used to offer workshops and training sessions to Toronto businesses and organizations on the expectations and needs of the city’s newest residents.

She is also spearheading the design and development of a course on the legal responsibilities of members of Boards of Directors of Not-for-Profit organizations in Canada.

Deborah Baird, Compliance

Debbie has a law degree (LLB), a graduate degree in adult education (Master of Education), and an undergraduate degree in Sociology and Anthropology (Bachelor of Arts). She is a Registered Nurse (RN) and has earned a certificate in pension and benefits administration. She is also a superb writer, a talent that she refined during her years as a television and radio reporter.

Her awards include the J.D. Tory Prize in Legal Writing from Queen's Law School and the Canadian Science Writers' Association award for the CBC Radio Documentary "Newborns".

Debbie is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Law Society of Upper Canada. She is a past member of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario, and the Provincial Nurse Educators Interest group and the Ontario Nurses Association.

Krys Galetin, Education Specialist

Krys has a Master of Education, specializing in Human Resources, from the University of Toronto, and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto. She has an Honours Bachelor of Environmental Science (joint environmental science & psychology) from the University of Waterloo. Krys is a certified ( L.D.ED) learning disabilities specialist: Assistive Technologist and Learning Strategist. She is a Life Skills Coach and is certified to administer Myers Briggs. Krys is a professor at Seneca College. Her specialty is identifying how people learn and designing curriculum to meet the needs of students with different learning styles.

Krys provides educational consulting to the Brigus Group and has been particularly active in evaluating the design of on-line courses. She has also been a major contributor to exercises developed to introduce young children to financial planning.

Kanupriya Vashisht, Content and Editing

Kanupriya Vashisht is a seasoned editor, writer and communications specialist with more than a decade-long experience in the North-American and South Asian media industries. She writes and edits features and columns for leading magazines, newspapers and websites.

Kanu has a Master’s in Journalism and Mass Communications from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Arizona State University. During her graduate career, she received the Columbia Scholastic Press Association and AEJMC (Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication) awards for her writing.

She has served as managing editor at Rogers Publishing where she managed a suite of finance publications. She was also in charge of internal communications at Mount Sinai Hospital. Now she runs her own content, design and usability firm with clients that include Rogers Publishing, Citi bank, Mount Sinai Hospital, Shoolini University (India), Ontario College of Art and Design etc.

She also serves on the board of directors of Links2Care, a multi-service charity serving several communities west of Toronto.

Atul Handa, Digital Strategy and User Experience

With over 15 years of industry experience, Atul brings a rich amalgam of User Experience, Digital Strategy, Interface Design, and Web development skills. In addition to being creatively and technically oriented, he also offers expertise in process development and project execution.


Atul has a Master’s degree in Technology from the Arizona State University and has received many prestigious awards and accolades.

Having worked for a slew of multinational corporations like KPMG, Mercer, Royal Bank of Canada etc. and catered to clients and users across the globe, Atul has deep insight into the role User-centric Design and User Experience play in an interactive medium.


Carey Alvez, Graphic Designer

Completed a three year full time visual arts program in high school, then went on to complete another three years of fine arts at York University in Toronto, Canada. She continued to work and study in a number of countries, such as France, Finland and the US. She then completed Honour's graduate work in multimedia development at Humber College.Carey has over 25 years experience as a graphic designer, illustrator and fine artist and 7 years as multimedia/web designer..

Using strong conceptual and organizational skills Carey provides project management and creative direction from concept development and interface design to final presentation. Carey has also written college courses, developed seminar and trade show presentations, as well as professional in-house training programs.

Ricardo Alvez, Multimedia / Web Programming

Originally from Uruguay Ricardo graduated from the "Technological University of Uruguay" in 1979, and later on from Humber College in Toronto, Canada. He has over 25 years experience in electronics engineering, networking, and computer programming. Since 1999 he has administered the online learning environment at Humber College an institution with over 20,000 online students.

Ricardo works in 9 different programming languages and brings to each project a touch of Latin humour, a wealth of technical expertise and a "there is always a way" attitude. His well-rounded background enables him to create innovative solutions when serving the client's needs, trouble shooting or coping with the ever-changing demands of the web.
